- Knowledge of human rights is necessary in a multicultural society, says professor Bård Anders Andreassen. He has big ambitions for BUC's commitment to human rights.
His ambition is to make BUC one of the academic centers of gravity in Human Rights-research in Norway.
- The combination of multiculturalism and human rights makes this MSc unique in Northern Europe. There is a need to promote human rights in society in general, not least when we look at the multicultural Norway, where respect for diversity is crucial. This is very relevant, just look at the debate about the hijab and immigration from non-western countries.
Andreasen has worked extensively with human rights and development of new democracies in multicultural societies. Poverty and the treatment of former offenders are also major areas of research. Numerous consultancies for NORAD, the World Bank, the European Union and development NGOs. Election observer in Zambia, Ethiopia and Kenya.
