Buskerud University College strongly emphasizes that it is your own responsibility to make sure that you have sufficient arrangements for any accident, illness, injury, loss or damage to persons or property resulting from, or in any way connected with, the study period in Norway.
Students from EU/EEA countries must have social security coverage from their home country and obtain a European Health Insurance Card which entitles them to medical treatment in accordance with the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme.
For further information please contact the nearest insurance office in your home country.
Please note that the European Health Insurance Card only gives students a right to medical or hospital treatment under the public health system; it is not an insurance which covers additional costs caused by personal accidents.
International students from other parts of the world may apply for voluntary enrolment in the Norwegian National Health Scheme after arrival. More details available here: http://www.nav.no/English
If you intend to study in Norway more than 12 months you may enroll at the beginning of your stay.
Services such as dental care are not covered in the insurance scheme, so we recommend you to buy accident coverage in your insurance.
During the first couple of weeks of the fall semester the students arrange "buddy week" for new students, both Norwegian and international. You will be informed of the programme upon arrival.
Incoming students in spring semester will be introduced to buddies - Norwegian students who show them around on campus and take them to the student pubs etc...
