This calendar gives you some key-dates to be aware of during the semester.
Academic year calendar
Sibu (Student Welfare Services) is the right place when you want the student housing. See http://www.sibu.no .There you will find housing deals.
You can also log onto http://www.boligtorget.no/ where you can apply for housing directly and find the i information you need about Sibu's homes.
Each residence unit has connection to satellite/cable TV and internet access. Some of the units are friendly for wheelchair users. Several residential buildings have common rooms, laundry room, etc.
All residences are fully furnished, with bed/sofa bed, bookshelf, desk, desk lamp, wardrobe, office chairs, coffee table, reclining chair and curtains. There are no utensils and other textiles.
The prices varies starting from NOK 3060 - up to 5775 NOK per month (icl. electricity/heating).
As long as flats are available, Buskerud University College pre-bookes student accommodation to all incoming students who are enrolled through partner agreements. We always try to get the lowest priced flats, but these are popular and not always available.
What to bring?
You are advised to bring some Norwegian currency with you when you arrive in Norway.
You will need to have money or a credit card to pay for the transport from the airport to Hønefoss, Kongsberg or Drammen.
It will also make it easier for you during your first few days, especially if you happen to arrive during the weekend when banks and post offices are closed.

Warm clothing is needed for the cold Norwegian autumn and winter season.
We suggest that you bring along: waterproof/windproof jacket, sweater, scarves, gloves, hat, warm long underwear (wool)/tights and warm and waterproof shoes/boots.
The student housing is equipped with necessary kitchen utensils to share with your flat mates, a quilt for a pillow and one set of linen for your bed, and a couple of bath towels for your own private use.
You are advised to bring a long a few extra bath towels and an extra pair of linen.

Oslo Airport Gardemoen is the national airport, situated north of Oslo, about 25 minutes by airport express train.
Oslo/Sandefjord Airport Torp is situated on the west side of the Oslofjord, about 1 hour and 45 minutes by public transport (train or express bus) from Oslo.
Oslo/Moss Airport Rygge is situated on the east side of the Oslofjord, about 1 hour by public transport from Oslo. You may take a direct bus to Oslo Bus Terminal, located next to Oslo Central Station. Alternatively,
there are trains from Rygge Train Station to Oslo Central Station.
How to get to Drammen
From Oslo Gardermoen: You can take the local train from Gardemoen directly to Drammen. The station can be accessed by lift or escalator from the arrival hall. There are two departures per hour and the journey takes approximately 1 h 10 minutes.
From Torp: You can take the regional train from Torp directly to Drammen. The station can be accessed by a shuttle bus to/from the airport terminal. There is one departure per hour. You can also take the express bus "Torpekspressen" which corresponds with the different international flights Ryanair and Wizzair, see http://torpekspressen.no/index.php/torp_eng/torp/praktisk_informasjon . The trip takes about 1 h 10 min. Get off at bus stop "Bangeløkka".
From Rygge: You may take a direct bus to Oslo Bus Terminal, located next to Oslo Central Station (1 h). Head for the Central Station, go by local train directly to Drammen, approximately 3-4 departures each hour (30 min.)
In Drammen from bus/train station it takes 3-5 minutes walking to BUC.

How to get to Kongsberg
From Oslo Gardermoen: You can take the local train from Gardemoen directly to Kongsberg. The station can be accessed by lift or escalator from the arrival hall. There is one departure per hour. The trip takes approximately 2 hours. You can also go by airport train to Oslo Central Station (25 min.) - then change to express bus "Timeekspressen" at Oslo Bus Terminal (appr. 1 h 20 min).
From Torp: You can take the regional train from Torp to Drammen and change train to Kongsberg. The station can be accessed by a shuttle bus to/from the airport terminal. There is one departure per hour from Torp, and one per hour Drammen - Kongsberg. The trip takes about 1 h 50 min.
From Rygge: You may take a direct bus to Oslo Bus Terminal, located next to Oslo Central Station. Head for the Central Station, go by local train directly to Kongsberg, there is one departure each hour. The trip Oslo-Kongsberg takes about 1 h 20 min.
In Kongsberg from bus/train station it takes about 15 minutes (2 km) walking to BUC.
There is also a bus Nr. 404 going from bus station and passing near BUC (stop at 'Froghsvei/ Christies vei').

How to get to Hønefoss
From Oslo Gardermoen: You can take the airport bus/minibus "Askeladden" from Gardermoen directly to Hønefoss, 8 departures per day from Platform 29, outside the airport terminal. The trip takes about 1 h 15 min. You may also go by train/express bus - if you take the airport express train to Oslo Central station
(25 min.), there are buses to Hønefoss every hour from Oslo Bus Terminal (1 h 30 min.). The bus terminal is located close to the Central Station, 5 minutes walk.
From Torp: There are two options - depending on when you are arriving
1) Shuttle bus from outside the airport terminal to train station (takes about 4 min). Train direction Oslo, get off in Drammen or Lysaker. Change train in Drammen - direction Bergen, or change to express bus in Lysaker, direction Hønefoss. Get off in Hønefoss - train/bus staion. You will then be picked up at the train station and taken to student housing.
2) Get on the bus "TORPEKSPRESSEN" which connects with all international flights and leaves just outside the terminal building. Get off at bus stop Lysaker, outside Oslo (ask the driver where). Get on the bus TIMEEKSPRESSEN Oslo-Hønefoss. Get off in Hønefoss. You will then be picked up at the train station and taken to student housing.
From Rygge: You can take a direct bus to Oslo Bus Terminal. Change to express bus "Timeekspressen" to Hønefoss, departure every hour (1 h 30min). In Hønefoss there is a bus stop Dalsbråten outside of BUC. You can use the local busses or buses to/from Oslo. BUC is about 3 km from the train station and 1.5 km (20 minutes) from the bus station.
