The software is freely available to BUC's students and staff for use in connection with studies, research and publishing.
EndNote creates your personal library of bibliographic references. These can either be retrieved and saved directly from a database, or be registered manually. References can be imported from most of the library's databases
EndNote is then used to insert citations in your work - this is done while using a word processor. The program makes reference management easy and automatically generates bibliographies in your documents. You can choose from a variety of different bibliographic styles.
Contact the library for information about courses and support.
We recommend upgrading to the latest version to get new program features. Cooperation with others is also easier when everyone has the same version. Previous EndNote versions should be uninstalled before upgrading.
Note! If you already have the program on your computer, you should make sure to have a backup copy of your existing EndNote references before upgrading to X6!
It is important that Word is installed on your machine before installing EndNote.
For Mac OSX: EndNote does not work with 10.4 versions. It is compatible with Pages '09, Microsoft Word 2008/2011 and RTF (OpenOffice). It is recommended to use Firefox. For installation issues, see page 11 in EndNote's getting started guide (pdf)
Students
For the program to be installed properly, it is important to follow these installation instructions (pdf). It is recommended that you use Internet Explorer when you log onto the student portal to start the download.
The student portal can be found here: https://student2010.hibu.no/
Employees
If you have EndNote X5 on your computer already, it should automatically be uninstalled when you choose to install the new version.
