BUC library in Drammen

BUC's library in Drammen is one of three partners in the joint library 'Drammensbiblioteket'. The joint library uses two different library catalogues. To search for materials and to renew loans, you need to check in two different systems: the University college's database BIBSYS and the public and county library database Bibliofil.

To get a complete overview of the collections, and to get a complete overview of your loans, you need to check both databases.

Drammensbiblioteket covers almost three floors of the Knowledge Park Papirbredden. You'll find the BUC-librarians and our reference desk on the 3rd floor.

Activate your library card

BUC-students use their student card as their library card. The patron ID will be marked on the back of the card as a barcode with text below: hibuXXXXX where XXXXXX is equal to your student-id.

Before you can check-out books and other materials , your card must be activated:

1. Visit the studentweb and register your "yes" to begin activating your Joint library card. You enter the studentweb menu on the "Registrations" and "Acceptance" (see photo below).
NOTE: The National Register is updated at night. That means you must wait until the day after you have answered "yes" in the studentweb before the next step in activation of your library card.

2. Visit the service desk on the 3^rd floor in the library to activate the card.

Once that's done, you're ready to check out books, films, music or other from the libraries' collections!

Search for documents and order through the library databases

To find textbooks or books on a particular topic, you can search the portal Drammensbibliotekets portal (search in both Bibliofil and Bibsys), or from BUC-library database (search only in BIBSYS). You will always be able to see if the books are available, and if the book that you want is on loan, you may order it.

Loans and delivery

In the library you'll find several self-service machines. One of them is located on the third floor. These self-service-machines are used for checking out books and other materials.

Returning materials is also based on self-service. The machines for this are in the hall on the ground floor and inside the library on the 1^st floor.

Check your loans

To get an overview of your loans, to renew materials and to see what you have ordered, you log on to the two different library databases Bibsys and Bibliofil.

Go to the "login" page at Drammensbiblioteket where you will find links to the login for both systems: My page (Bibsys) and My loans (Bibliofil).

Request password for "My page" in BIBSYS

Enter Bibsys and click on Order Password. The password will be sent to the email address registrered on your account. You may change the password to something easy to remember.

Order a PIN-code for 'My loans' in Bibliofil

In Bibliofil you get your PIN code in desks at the library, or you can order one yourself online. The code is sent to you via email or mobile phone. You may request that it to be stored in BIBSYS so you can click directly from My loans Library card.
