Norwegian public higher education institutions are required to offer student welfare services to all registered students. These services include providing housing to students who want to live in reasonably priced flats in walking-distance to campus. The type of accommodation varies but the student welfare organisation of Buskerud (Studentsamskipnaden i Buskerud - SiBu) caters for most needs by offering a wide range of categories, from family-sized flats to housing complexes consisting of separate units complete with your own kitchenette and bathroom (the famous Norwegian hybel).
The installation of satellite- or cable-TV and telephone connection is available in all flats and units. All flats and units have internet connection included in the monthly fee. Some of the flats accommodate wheel chair users. Many of the housing complexes have a common room, a laundry room, a solarium etc. All the flats and units are fully furnished.
Prices starting on NOK 2750 - up to NOK 3950 per month.
Sample pictures and specifications in Norwegian are available at Boligtorget. Accommodation can also be applied for through this site.
As long as flats are available, Buskerud University College pre-bookes student accommodation to all incoming students who are enrolled through partner agreements. We always try to get the lowest priced flats, but these are popular and not always available.
