
Hønefoss is situated in the Ringerike area, in eastern Norway, with 32 000 inhabitants. It is approximately one hour from Oslo, and close to the main roads to Bergen and western Norway. Ringerike has been inhabited for thousands of years and has been associated with the Norwegian royalty since the age of the Vikings.
The countryside in Ringerike is both dramatic and easily accessible, making it ideal for a range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, hunting, skiing and hang gliding. Swimming, boating, canoeing and fishing are popular activities on the many lakes and rivers in the region. The geology of Ringerike is unique and attracts many national and international visitors. The city of Hønefoss is a business centre with a market square, pedestrian precincts and a pleasant mixture of specialist shops, shopping centres, cafes and restaurants.
Hønefoss campus has 800 full time students and 500 part time students. The campus is a 5 minute walk from the city centre. There are two departments situated at campus Hønefoss:
The departments offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Information Systems, Education, Business Economics and Business Administration.
The multicultural aspect in teaching and course development is a focus area at the Hønefoss campus, especially in the teacher education.
The student facilities are of a high standard with modern lecture theatres, laboratories and seminar rooms. Students may use the library and computer laboratories for individual studying, they have long opening hours. Student accommodation is available within walking distance to campus. Through wireless connection, students are able to work online everywhere inside the campus building.
All the departments at Hønefoss campus focus on internationalization through international research projects, visiting professors and exchange agreements for students and staff. The library has an international section for students and teachers with computer facilities and various information material regarding exchange and study abroad opportunities with partner institutions.
