
Kongsberg was founded as a silver mining town in 1624, and the historical roots of the town are still very visible. Today, the town has a lively cultural scene, including an annual jazz festival with a large number of international performers and visitors.
As well as being a vibrant cultural city, Kongsberg is also the headquarters of an international technology corporation. The two main business areas are based on Maritime and Defence and Aerospace and the group of industries operate worldwide with employees in over 20 countries and add an international dimension to the workforce in Kongsberg.
Buskerud University College is proud to have close relations with the industry which provides guest lecturers and experts in our courses at regular intervals. Situated close to the mountains, the city is ideal for outdoor activities. Ski lifts and cross-country trails are widely used by locals as well as tourists.

The facilities of the college are modern and updated. The lecture auditoriums are equipped with audiovisual aids, a number of different laboratories where data-technology has been integrated and pleasant lecturing rooms. Through wireless connection, students are able to work online everywhere inside the campus building.
The library contains all necessary literature and periodicals and possibilities to search databases all over the world. The general teaching methods vary between lectures, laboratory exercises, work in groups, exercise solutions and project oriented work.
Kongsberg campus and the resident departments have a number of international linkages through the international industry in Kongsberg and various international linkages through research projects, visiting professors and exchange agreements for students and staff. The library has an international section for students and teachers with computer facilities and a variety of information material regarding opportunities for exchange and study abroad at partner institutions.
