Application and admission

How long can I be on the waiting list?

BUC can grant admission for students from the waiting list until 1st September (may vary between the different study programs)

When will unfilled study places be published for re-admission of late applicants?

Re-admission for the remaining vacant study places will be open from 20th July to 1st September (the latest). In weeks 33 and 34 the admission will run on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Within week 35 the admission will run on Tuesday and Thursday. Potential study offers and higher waiting list positions can be seen in online application from approximately 15:00 pm the same day when the admission runs.

When will Restetorget be open?

Restetorget opens on Friday 20th July at 09.00.

An overview of study offers that will be available to apply for from 20th July, will be published on 19th July at 09.00.

It is possible to pre-register for the Restetorget already on 19th July! The application can be sent only when the Restetorget opens on 20th July at 09.00. Admissions Office will provide more details about the pre-registration.

There will be a continuous assessment of the studies to be published at Restetorget after 20th July. Available study places can be posted on the Internet from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day (most likely in the period from 08.00 to 16.00 on weekdays).

Can I remain on the waiting list at Restetorget?

No. Restetorget study places are granted to the first applicants who fulfill the requirements.

How can I apply through Restetorget?

Available Restetorget study places can be applied for only through the web application on www.samordnaopptak.no! All applicants with a Norwegian identity number must register to apply via ID-porten /MinID. Get the electronic ID in advance. Where should I send the documents after I have applied through Restetorget?

Documentation for the admission requirements has to be sent to BUC (and possibly other study places to which you have applied through Restetorget). Applicants who have an ordinary application this year, and have general admission, do not normally send new documentation. Applicants can see the information about this on their web application.

Where should I send the documents after ordinary application?

See the information at the top of the application receipt. Normally, the documentation has to be sent to the institution that is the first on the application form. Note that this does not change even if the applicant edits his/her priorities.

When do I get the result of my application for admission if I have made an ordinary application?

Samordna Opptak will give you the result of the web application on 20th July. The earliest opportunity to see the result is likely to be on Tuesday 17th July. Officially, Samordna Opptak does not give the results of the admission before 20th July. Therefore, you should note that there may be delays.

When will I get the result of my application for admission if I have applied through the Restetorget?

Applications are assesed continuously.

A possible offer may be seen on web application from approximately 15:00 p.m. during the following days:

Week 30-32 and 35-36: Tuesday and Thursday

Week 33 and 34: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday

How long will Restetorget be open?

Restetorget opens and closes for new offers from 20th July - 1st September. After 1st September Restetorget is closed.

How do I apply for exemption from subjects?

Study start for students

When do the courses start for new exchange and degree students?

Semester start in Drammen- 14th August. Registration- 09.00-10.00. Official opening- 10.00.

Semester start in Kongsberg- 15th August. Registration- 09.00-10.00. Official opening- 10.00.

Semester start in Hønefoss 15th August. Registration and opening - 10.00.

When do the courses start for "old" engineering students?

1st class will have introductory information and lectures from 15th August, the subject "Introduction to Engineering" will be taught on 16th and 17th August.

3rd class will start on the course "main project" 13th - 17th August.

Annual tuition for 1st, 2nd and 3rd class starts on Monday 20th August.

Will I miss my study place if I do not come on the opening day and/or absent during the study start period?

Yes. In order to keep your study place you must set up an agreement about your absence during the opening day and/or study start period. Arrangement has to be made with the admission office through email: studieinfo@hibu.no

When will I receive my diploma?

Because of the strike in the public sector, the issuance of some of the diplomas is delayed. We will send out the diplomas as soon as we can. Please also check if you have given us your new address in case you have moved from the student house address.

Where can I find the syllabus?

You can find the syllabus on www.hibu.no/ny as soon as it is ready.

Where can I find the study plans?

The study plans will be uploaded on www.hibu.no/ny as soon as they are ready. The study plans for the existing studies are placed in the course catalog under "Studenter" on www.hibu.no

I am already studying at BUC. When will I receive the information about the timetables and information about the next semester? Who should I get in contact with?

Contact your study coordinator and check Fronter. Academic updates will be posted on Fronter as soon as they are ready.

Do I need to have the books/reading materials with me during the first study day?

No, you don't.

How can I get a PIN code for Studentweb?

You log in with your identity number and your password, which is stated on the invoice for the semester fee.

Where can I find information about IT services for new students?

I am not able to pay the semester fee at my Studentweb profile. Has it not been prepared yet?

It will be ready soon. Please try again later and check the status with the administration on your campus. They are the ones who take care of the Studentweb .

When will we receive a "welcome pack" with information through the mail?

All information about the study start and your study program will be published on www.hibu.no/ny, instead of the ''welcome pack'' through the mail. You will also receive some information during the study start. If you think something is missing on www.hibu.no/ny, we will be happy to get your suggestions.

Will there be an autumn holiday? If yes, when?

There is usually no autumn holiday at university college level, but check the timetable of your study program to see what is scheduled for that week.

Where can I see the exam results?

You will see your exam results on Studentweb as soon as they are ready.
