Export from PubMed with Windows Vista

How to export Pubmed references with Internet Explorer
- Click on the PubMed reference you want
- In Display choose Medline, Under Send to choose File
- You will now most likely se a popupblocker message at the top of the screen saying "To help your security…", maybe also "Did you notice the Information bar?"
- Place the cursor on the "To help protect your security", right click and choose Download file
- Under Send to choose File
- When asked "Do you want to poen or save this file?" choose Save
- Save the file with the name Pubmed_result. Close the "Download complete" message
- Open EndNote, under File click on Import
- Under Choose file, mark the file Pubmed_result and Open
- In Import option, scroll down and choose PubMed (NLM)
- Click Import and your reference is now transferred to your library
To make this process less complicated, you may want to turn of the download security blocking. Open the Internet Explorer, under Tools choose Internet options
- Choose Security
- Custom level
- Scroll down to Downloads
- Under Automatic prompting for file downloads, choose Enable and OK
- Restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect
How to export PubMed references with Firefox
- Click on the PubMed reference you want
- In Display choose Medline, Under Send to choose File
- When asked "What do you want Firefox to do?" choose Open with, mark EndNote in the menu and OK
- Mark the EndNote file and Open
- Find PubMed (NLM) as the import filter and Choose
- The reference is now transferred to your library
